How can I help?

I offer a number of different methods of one-to-one counselling:

  • Face-to-Face
  • Walking and Talking
  • Phone Consultations
  • Video Call Consultations

I have trained across a range of issues, but I have particular experience in the following areas:

Trauma

Trauma can be a single event that can last a lifetime or multiple traumatic experiences. We will work on ways that make you feel safe again and begin the process of healing. Often, you can be unaware of the effects that a traumatic event may have had on you until years later. We will explore this together in a safe environment.

Domestic Abuse

Domestic abuse can happen to anyone, and anyone can be an abuser. Domestic abuse includes;
physical, sexual, emotional, financial abuse, coercive control, honour-based violence and stalking.
But it is always about someone having power and control over you, which can leave you feeling powerless and confused.

Parenting

Parenting is filled with the complexities of raising children. Whether you are facing abuse from your child, seeking to strengthen family bonds, single parenting or striving to balance your personal and parenting roles, my approach is tailored to meet your specific needs with compassion and understanding. I will empower you to work through and gain solutions by exploring the events, thoughts, feelings and patterns of behaviour so that you can make changes and meet your goals. I will explore solutions with you and celebrate the strengths that make your family unique.

Disordered Eating/Eating Disorders

This is a deeply personal struggle that affects how someone relates to food and/or their body. Each person’s experience is unique. For many, these challenges aren’t just about eating, they are about coping with difficult emotions, such as loneliness, sadness, stress, anxiety, seeking control or responding to overwhelming pressures. Living with an eating disorder or disordered eating can affect everyday life, leaving you feeling isolated. Recovery is possible, healing often involves reconnecting with one’s authentic self, building a compassionate relationship with your body and developing healthier ways to process emotions, so you can begin to live a life free from fear, secrecy and shame.

Emetophobia

This is a phobia, the fear of vomiting. This can shrink your world as you carefully monitor what you eat, where you go and whom you are near. Simple activities others take for granted may take immense courage, affecting your day-to-day life. By creating a supportive space where the fear can be acknowledged without shame, we can collaboratively design gradual strategies that honour your pace and boundaries while helping you to reclaim control of your life.

Anxiety

Certain situations in life can sometimes feel overwhelming. This can manifest itself in many ways, physically and emotionally. Your mind might present scenarios that feel intensely real and threatening, even when another part of you recognises they’re disproportionate. By meeting you where you are, honouring your experience, and gently encouraging small steps toward recovery that respect your choice and individual needs to overcome these feelings.

Depression

Depression can be a long-term affliction or arrive out of the blue. It can affect anyone at any stage of their life. It can feel extraordinarily isolating without any apparent escape. We will look at a range of techniques to help you. Every approach is unique, just as you are unique.
