Who am I?

“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”

C.S. Lewis

I am a qualified counsellor based in Ringwood, on the Hampshire/Dorset border. I work face-to-face or virtually. My background before counselling was as a Family Support Worker based in schools for Dorset County Council and Social Services. More recently, I qualified as an IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advisor), and I work in a large Domestic Abuse Service. I have worked with children, families and adults. I have run Domestic Abuse courses for survivors and parenting courses for young people who are abusive to their parents.

I work with young people over 11 years old and adults.

I specialise in trauma, PTSD, childhood trauma, domestic abuse, relationship difficulties and challenging behaviour from young people. I have experience working with clients suffering from;
PTSD, sexual abuse, domestic abuse, anxiety, OCD, body dysmorphia, social anxiety, eating disorders, emetophobia, relationship issues, low self-esteem, depression, drug and alcohol problems and bereavement.

I aim to help people who are feeling ‘stuck’ and want to make changes to improve the way they feel about themselves. To do this, we may work on your history, stay in the present, and learn new ways to manage and recover from emotional difficulties. I will walk alongside you, enabling you to understand your thoughts and feelings. I will empower you to work through and gain solutions by exploring the events, thoughts, feelings, and patterns of behaviour that have made you feel ‘stuck’ so that you can make changes and reach your goals. I firmly believe change is possible.

I am focused on your needs and will tailor your therapy to meet these, working at your pace. I will draw together different therapeutic approaches to enable you to find safety, healing and joy. I will work with you with kindness, curiosity, compassion and creativity – being alongside you in a safe, therapeutic relationship in which you can be curious and expand your insights about yourself, your life and your relationships and become who you want to be. I believe being able to journey with someone is a privilege.

I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I am subject to its professional conduct procedure. I work strictly with its ethical framework.
